Chapter 13 Summary


Solomon was making an axe handle because Mr. Epps ordered him. Solomon made an axe handle that was curved instead of an straight one and Mr. Epps got really impressed.

Solomon got sick during the corn season. the cook saw Solomon really bad and told to Mr. Epps that he could die. So Mr. Epps decided to call a doctor because he would lose money if Solomon dies. After he got a little better he starts working again, but Solomon had no experience on picking cotton so Mr. Epps sent him to a harder task.

Epps obligated his slaves to dance and Solomon to play the violin. In this chapter Solomon met Patsey, who was known as the best cotton-picker, she was a slave that was very younger and suffered a lot with Mr. Epps. Mr. Epps hit slaves that did not make the complete work because he was a rally bad man. Solomon worked for Master Epps for 10 years, the last 10 years of being a slave for Solomon.
